Now is a great time to get your new boots and help a great cause!
The retail store Cowtown Cowboy Outfitters has been in existence since the 1950’s and owned by the same family since 1974. Mrs. Barbara Ransehousen- also known as Barbara Bickford- was the proud owner of Cowtown Cowboy Outfitters during the 1970’s through the mid 90’s. She retired and moved West in search of new adventures. Creativity has always been one of Barbara’s strong suits. During her time at the helm she started a tradition that still continues to be wildly popular today. The annual Boot Trade In Sale has been going on for approximately 40+ years. During this sale boot owners can bring in their old boots and get money back for them that can be applied to a new pair of boots. This is great for all ages of boot wearing folks. All you had to do was bring in your boots and the fine folks at Cowtown Cowboy Outfitters would give you money back to use on your new pair.
Over the years the boot trade in sale has become even more popular. In recent years contests were held to determine who had the oldest, the longest, the most unique and more. One trade consisted of a pair of boots reportedly worn by Santa Claus!
What’s more important is what happens to all of the trades? This is perhaps the best part of the trade in sale. All of the boots that are in reasonably good shape are donated to the Ranch Hope Thrift Store. This store is open to the public and all proceeds from the sales of items at this eclectic store are used to help fund Ranch Hope. Founded in 1964 Ranch Hope has been a beacon of hope for young men and women who are in need of compassionate care. Over 90 individuals take part in the program at any given time. The “Ranch” has expanded to over 130 acres and includes a gym, classrooms, chapel, cafeteria, and more. You can read more about Ranch Hope and their expectation of success here.
